Discover the remote and spectacular archipelago of Lofoten, one of Norway's oldest inhabited regions on this week-long cycling trip. Following a recommended stop over in Oslo, you will arrive into Svolvaer and be instantly transported amongst the most stunning scenery in Europe. From tremendous mountain peaks and fjords, to postcard pretty fishing villages and gorgeous sandy beaches, this region has something for everyone, as you will experience on your journey across the archipelago.
Soak up the relaxing atmosphere on your first day in Svolvaer where you can choose to take a leisurely boat trip to see the Sea Eagles, or get started straight away with one of our cycling routes to nearby picturesque fishing villages. The next morning cycle from Svolvaer across the island alongside the oceanfront for part of your journey to Hov, where you may have the chance to experience the Midnight Sun. From here continue to Leknes with many possible detours to distract you along the way, including the most beautiful beaches in the area. Your last base is Reine, where you will spend two nights in a traditional fisherman's cabin. The cycling is mostly flat with some elevations, so will suit all abilities, E - Bike hire is also available. Your luggage will be transferred for you along the way.
The accommodation is a variety of four star hotels and three star lodges and cabins, some with shared facilities so please do enquire for full details at time of booking. For example the Rorbuer cabins are the traditional and only form of accommodation in Reine, and typically involve shared living areas and bathrooms.
The cycling on the Lofoten Islands is mostly on the flat, with gentle inclines and great road networks. The route leads you through lush meadows and along rivers, past small farms and on coastal pathways. You will be cycling between 20 and 50 kms a day, and so do need a good level of fitness and some cycling experience on this trip.
Arrive into Svolvaer - gateway to the Lofoten and its largest city.

Pick up your bikes this morning and discover the delights of Northern Lofoten and Svolvaer. Choose from a range of activities (not included, payable locally), a boat trip to the famous Troll fjord to spot Sea Eagles or perhaps try some fishing. If you prefer to get active straight away, there are cycling routes to nearby fishing villages with a visit to Lofoten Cathedral on the way.

Cycle from Svolvaer to Hov - An easy day's cycling with a couple of detours along the way. Visit the pretty fishing village of Hennigsvaer or take a detour to Brenna, the cycle route along the oceanfront for fantastic coastal views. As this is the only night you stay on the west coast, we highly recommend a hike after dinner to the summit of Hoven to witness the midnight sun.
You stay at Lofoten Links Lodges.
Lofoten Links Lodges are set in a golf course and have stunning views of the sea and natural surroundings. During summer, guests can experience the midnight sun, and in the winter the Northern Lights if lucky. Guests will have an en suite bedroom and bathroom, but may have shared communal areas.The lodges share a fully equipped kitchen, living room with a TV and a wood burning stove with a large terrace facing the sea. There is a restaurant on site and your evening meal and breakfast is included. You can also hire a hot tub or the sauna, well deserved after a long days cycling.
Cycle from Hov to Leknes - todays ride is relatively flat, with more detours to fishing communities along the way or locations with great viewpoints.

Featuring an in-house restaurant, and gym, this hotel is located right in Leknes town centre. It offers spacious rooms with cable TV and free WiFi access.The hotel has its own Restaurant Bevares, which offers an a la carte menu in the evenings (not included) and of course a buffet breakfast is served each morning, along with a packed lunch.
Stay in Leknes and discover the seaward and central Lofoten. Cycle options from here include a ride to Uttakleiv the most photographed beach in the Lofoten or Unstad beach for some surfing. For a more relaxed option you can visit the Lofoten Viking Museum to learn all about their fascinating history, (not included, payable locally).

An early start this morning, to cycle from Leknes to Kremmervika (12 km), to catch the ferry to Nusfjord, (ferry included). This is a beautiful old village, so we highly recommend a stop here. After lunch cycle on to Reine for your two nights in this iconic village and accommodation, the fishermen's cabins.

The iconic Lofoten accommodation, these cabins have been lovingly restored and provide the perfect place to rest at the end of the day. There are 40 cabins which blend the atmosphere of the original fishermen’s dwellings with all modern comforts. All cabins, or ‘Rorbuer’ as they are called, have their own bathroom, and most feature a fully equipped kitchen. Wi-Fi is available in all cabins. Breakfast and your evening meals are provided here, along with a packed lunch.
Stay in Reine today and discover South Lofoten - take a fjord cruise (not included, payable locally), or a day trip to the village of A. Its also possible to try sea rafting or kayaking from here, (not included,payable locally) or choose to try one of the many hikes that are possible.

Leave your bike here, and depart Reine after breakfast. Travel by bus to Moskenes for your onward journey home(not included, payable locally). The passenger ferry from Moskenes to Bodo is free of charge.
