Welcome to the spellbinding Cote d'Azur, also known as the French Riviera where the cerulean blue of the Mediterranean caresses the shores, and golden beaches bask under the warm embrace of the sun. A canvas of breathtaking colours, this coastal wonderland has long been an artistic muse, inspiring the greatest painters of the 20th century to capture its enchanting beauty. But Cote d'Azur is more than just a painter's paradise; it boasts charming Provencal villages adorned with fragrant gardens and set against the dramatic backdrop of its hinterland, all imbued with a sense of relaxation and escape.
Explore breathtaking coastal paths, dramatic cliffs, hidden coves, rocky outcrops and stunning vistas. Along the way, you'll walk along the picturesque coastline of the Giens peninsula, known for its rugged beauty and revealing stunning views of the Mediterranean and its islands. Visit the pearl of the Golden Isles, Porquerolles, a peaceful island which captures the timeless charm of the French Riviera.
The wildest and most unspoilt of the Golden Islands, Port-Cros is located at the heart of Europe's first national marine park. Follow trails through fragrant valleys fringed with Mediterranean scrub and along rocky cliffs with secluded coves. Walk in the foothills of the Massif des Maures and uncover the delights of the hilltop village of Bormes-les-Mimosas named after the vibrant yellow mimosas that adorn the houses, alleys and squares in winter and spring. This twin-centred trip is based in the towns of Hyeres and Le Lavandou, known for their Provencal charm and bustling markets which overflow with fresh Mediterranean produce, flowers and artisanal goods. Wander through the narrow streets of the old town of Hyeres and relax on the postcard-perfect beaches of Le Lavandou, all under a brilliant azure sky.
The Cote d'Azur enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate, with over 300 sunny days a year. Winters are pleasant, making it an ideal destination for a winter walking escape, while avoiding the busier months of July & August.
The terrain features gentle elevation, with some rocky sections that can be technically difficult. The walks are classified as easy, but a moderate level of fitness is recommended. The average daily elevation gain is approximately 200m, with the exception of Day 7, which includes a more challenging ascent of 650 meters.
Explore the oldest resort town on the French Riviera, long favoured retreat for France's aristocracy. Its medieval old town perched on a hilltop with sweeping views of the coastal islands continues to exude timeless elegance.

Continue towards the rocky cliffs of Pointe des Chevaliers, again offering sweeping views of the Mediterranean. Enjoy the seclusion of Pointe Escampobariou cove, marked by jagged cliffs that plunge dramatically into the clear turquoise waters below. Transfer to Tour Fondue for the short boat ride to the island of Porquerolles. Discover the wild beauty of Porquerolles with a walk along its pristine south coast.
Your first stop is the majestic Porquerolles lighthouse, perched on the southern tip of the island. Explore the wild cliffs at Langoustier Point fringed with pine, myrtle and heather and relax at the idyllic Argent Beach known for its fine sand and crystal-clear waters. Return by boat and transfer to Hyères.
A morning transfer will take you to Argentière Beach, from here the route meanders along the coastline, linking picturesque coves and beaches, each with crystal-clear waters and soft, fine sand—perfect spots to pause for a refreshing swim. You will be captivated by breathtaking views of Port-Cros Island, the Pointe du Levant, and the historic Fort de Brégançon. Now an official presidential residence, Fort de Brégançon has witnessed centuries of political and military history, evolving from a defensive outpost to a symbol of modern French diplomacy. From here you’ll be transferred to your hotel in Le Lavandou.
You stay at La Petite Boheme.

Take a boat from Le Lavandou to Port-Cros, the wildest and most unspoilt island in the Hyères archipelago. At the heart of Europe’s first national marine park, Port-Cros is a sanctuary for Mediterranean wildlife and flora. Choose between two routes which can also be combined.
The southwest loop winds along the steep, rocky coastline and secluded coves, offering breathtaking views of the Mediterranean. Along the way, you may encounter local wildlife, including seabirds and sea turtles.
The northwest loop leads you further into the island, passing through hills adorned with Mediterranean scrub and cork oak forests. Port-Cros is also steeped in history, with numerous ancient sites and fortifications, including the Fort de Port-Cros, which highlights the island’s historical significance.
Return by boat to Le Lavandou.
Today’s route showcases the diverse landscapes of Provence, with impressive views of the sea and Maures mountains. You begin with a climb to the Roussel Ridge (400m), offering sweeping vistas of the Mediterranean.
After passing the Col de Grateloup, the trail leads to the viewpoint of the Pierre d’Avenon, a dramatic rocky outcrop with striking views of the islands of Hyères. Continue through oak forest to Col du Landon before descending into the picturesque village of Bormes-les-Mimosas. Wander through narrow cobbled lanes lined with pastel-coloured houses adorned with bougainvillea, wisteria, and mimosa flowers (in bloom during winter and spring). Return to Lavandou.
If you'd like to extend your trip with extra hotel nights we recommend: La Petite Boheme, Le Lavandou; Best Western Plus, Hyeres.
