Starting in the charming city of Chania, your adventure takes you to the Samaria Gorge in the Samaria National Park, West Crete's crowning jewel and Europe's longest gorge. Wander through lush gorges filled with vibrant Cretan flora, immersing yourself in the island's natural beauty. The journey along the southern coast reveals historical treasures, from the peaceful village of Sougia to the ancient ruins of Lissos. Marvel at the Temple of Asklepios, a famed healing sanctuary, and see mosaic floors that whisper tales from the past. Relax and swim in the magical village of Loutro.
Savour the unique wines of Crete, crafted from local vineyards and rich in distinct, regional flavours. If you go out for a Cretan meal, it'll usually start with a variety of meze starters. Meze comes from the word 'Mezedes,' meaning little delicacies. It's a great way to try several tasty dishes of traditional Cretan cuisine made from high-quality local ingredients.

If you arrive early to Chania, start with a stroll through the charming Old Town, exploring its narrow streets and Venetian harbour. Visit the Maritime Museum or the Archaeological Museum for a bit of history, then head to the Venetian fortress for panoramic views. Enjoy lunch at a local taverna before relaxing at Nea Chora Beach. Finish your day with a sunset view from the harbour.

Take a coastal hike from Palaiochora to Sougia, passing by the ancient city of Lyssos. Walk along a path through a beautiful small canyon with narrow yet high walls, leading to the Temple of Asclepios. Explore the scattered ruins of the ancient city, including tombs, the Roman theatre, and the church of Saint Kirikos. Return to Sougia to relax at the beach before taking a boat transfer back to Palaiochora (approx. 40 mins.).
Explore the famous Samaria Gorge, Europe's longest gorge. Keep an eye out for Bearded Vultures as you cross trickling streams and pass through forests of fragrant pines. Reach the 'Iron Gates,' the narrowest point of the gorge where the cliffs on either side rise 600m high. Afterwards, head back down the gorge to return to Agia Roumeli.

Enjoy a superb coastal hike with breathtaking views all around. A steady footing is needed to navigate the terrain. If you prefer not to walk, you can take a scenic ferry ride from Loutro to Hora Sfakion. Keep an eye out for Golden Orioles, if you're lucky, you might spot these stunning birds along the way. Explore Hora Sfakion and in the afternoon you will be transferred to Chania (approx. 1 hour 30 mins.)
