Since 1985 we've been building friendships with our hoteliers and local suppliers, so when you book a Headwater holiday you can be confident that you will not only be getting the best advice and experience but that you will also be getting an honest price. Your holiday with us includes all the standard requirements of your holiday including detailed route information, bikes/canoes/kayaks where applicable and experienced local support.

When comparing our price with other holidays it’s worthwhile considering that elements such as transfers, equipment (including bikes) and some meal plans are included in our prices but extra with many of our competitors. Should you find a direct comparison of your Headwater holiday at a lower price please do contact us before booking and give us the opportunity to match it.

ACCOMMODATION AND MEAL PLANS

  • Accommodation is based on two adults sharing a twin or double room.
  • Rooms include private shower/bath and toilet (and usually phone), within the classification shown on the individual holiday pages.
  • The level of comfort of auberges, alberghi, etc not falling within the official star rating system is shown by the symbol. These properties are officially licensed, very popular with customers, and very much part of the country way of life.
  • Room upgrades are often possible, at a supplement. See the 'Hotels' section of the individual holiday pages for details. Here you will also find suggestions for extra nights and/or city add-ons.
  • Meal plans: Daily breakfasts included on all holidays. See individual price tables for details of lunches and evening meals.

Extra nights / City breaks

These include accommodation (and meals, where specified), but not the cost of travel between airport/station and hotel.

Taxes

Local tourist taxes like the French taxe de séjour (if charged, not usually more than €2 per day) are not included and are payable directly to your hotelier at the end of your stay.

  • Walkers: Transfers to/from the start/end of walks where specified *.
  • Cyclists: Fully equipped hybrid bike with panniers (e-bike, tandem and road bike options at a supplement on selected holidays *).
  • Cyclists: Ride with GPS navigation app with planned routes.
  • Canoeists: Canoe/kayak, paddles, helmets, buoyancy aids, 25 litre waterproof container, boat lock and chain.

Guided holidays

  • Guide services as described in holiday descriptions.
  • All transport mentioned in the holiday descriptions *.
  • Admissions to châteaux, galleries, museums, etc where specified *.
  • Walkers: Guided walks as specified in holiday descriptions.
  • Cyclists: Guided cycle routes as specified in holiday descriptions.
