TRIP DESCRIPTION

The Salzkammergut area is one of the most impressive regions in the heart of Austria. This lake district boasts 76 lakes and a beautiful mountain backdrop. It is also home to some cultural and historical highlights.

On your 4 night self-guided tour you'll enjoy a mix of spectacular scenic views, gentle shoreline routes, wooded forest trails and 'chocolate box' villages. The walks are relaxed, following mainly well-marked routes.

You'll stay in St Wolfgang, renowned for its beautiful 15th century church, the wonderful riverside spa town of Bad Ischl - a favourite summer holiday retreat of Emperor Franz Joseph. Although it's almost 100 years since the emperor was last there, his presence is still felt in the region, and you can explore the Kaiservilla, his former holiday home. A highlight of the trip is a stay in the UNESCO village of Hallstatt.

You stay in unrivalled 4 star luxury, family-run hotels that are calm and relaxing places to spend time, most with 'feel-good' wellness centres, plus high levels of quality and attention to detail.

REVIEWS

Very friendly lady phoned me back and helped me easily through the booking process.

28 Mar 2025

Arranged an excellent holiday for us, and when we had to cancel because of medical problems, they did an excellent job of rearranging for later in the year. Could not have been more helpful.

27 Mar 2025

Excellent throughout.

19 Sep 2024

Initial quote failed to reflect our long history with Headwater and there was some initial confusion with conflicting messages from Headwater and Exodus staff, but once we cleared these hurdles the service and responsiveness was excellent.
